A Day in the Blue Kitchen

I love my kitchen. Everything seems to happen there. We not only bake, cook, and eat, but we also play, laugh, dance, share, make, create, pray, sing, and goof around. Here are my two little goofballs playing with a bucket of cookie cutters and an empty cereal box.

And FYI, this quirky outfit Daniel picked out all by himself. That's right, a "Cars 2" t-shirt and fleecy penguins playing hockey pajama pants. Jeff picked out the striped socks. And yes, he did leave the house like this.

Spaghetti Time

Who does't love a picture of a kid covered in spaghetti? Seriously, spaghetti makes for the best ever messy food face pictures. So here are a couple:

I really don't know who taught Daniel how to eat spaghetti.
He picked up each long piece and slurped it down.
He also thought he was hilarious.
He is.

Jacob wanted us to take a picture of his bread.
We rarely get a good picture of him smiling.
This one is GREAT, except for the bread.

I Baked! And it Wasn't Edible!

But truth be told, what I baked shouldn't be edible anyways... that's right, we baked our very own giant crayons! Aren't they great?

They are really way more fun to colour with than regular old crayons. All I did was peel the paper off all the broken pieces (a bit of a chore, but an exacto knife came in handy.... I don't know how I didn't cut myself). Partially fill an old muffin tin (one you never plan to bake edible muffins in ever again) and cook at 250 for 30 minutes. Let cool for a few hours, until solid, and pop out your crayons.

Boxing Day Dessert

Mmmmmmm Pan Dessert! The boys sure enjoyed helping me make it and eat it.

As for the recipe... this is my nut free version (replace nuts with chocolate chips and voila!), and I cooled it on the back deck in the snow because my fridge was full.

Crust:  Mix 2 cups flour and 1 cup melted butter and however many chocolate chips you like. Press into 9x13 pan and bake for 20 minutes at 350. Cool.

First Layer: Mix 1 package cream cheese with 1 cup icing sugar and 1/2 container of cool whip. Spread on crust.

Second Layer: Mix 1 package instant chocolate pudding with 1 package instant vanilla pudding and 3 cups of milk. Carefully spread on top of first layer.

Third Layer: Spread remaining 1/2 container of cool whip on top and sprinkle with more chocolate chips. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Delicious.
