Do Your Potholders Make You Smile?

They should.

I bought these at a church auction, just for fun. They are so not my style, or colour pallette, and yet... I bought them. :) Always let your smile be your umbrella!

Score! Bars!

Homemade Skorbars. But I changed the name. A friend made these for us and then I just had to try them myself. I found the recipe on a website for healthy foods. I don't really think there is anything "good for you" about these, especially since they are so good I couldn't stop eating them.
Score!

Bars!
SCORE! BARS!

You need:
A cookie pan lined with tin foil and greased.
One package of soda crackers. (salted or not)
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter
1+ cups chocolate chips.

Melt butter and sugar in pot until thick and syrupy.

Meanwhile... lay out crackers on prepared pan. You may have to cut a few for the last row.
When syrup is ready pour over crackers.
Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes... careful not to burn anything.
Let set one minute then sprinkle chocolate chips on top. When melty spread around. Cool completely (use the fridge or freezer to accelerate this process)
Break into pieces and store in a container in the fridge. Yum.

Spring Has Sprung

We planted some wheat seeds four days ago... one jar for each member of the family... and look at them now!! It is so neat to watch the roots grow first, and then the little green shoots. There is something amazing about a seed.

I planted the seed... but God made it grow.

Chocolates Anyone?

Yummy. These were so fun and easy to make. Jacob and I had a blast.

It's a Carwash... It's Soup... It's Fun!

It was cold outside, and we were going a little stir crazy.... So this is what happened! Two bins with soapy water and anything else they could find... Little cars, funnels, spoons, pots, etc... Once all the water was spilled and the towels were soaked they were done, and so was our morning!

Let's Get Crackering

I am now on pinterest and it is addicting. So I decided I can't just keep pinning stuff indefinitely, and my goal is to always have one project on the go from my boards. So Sunday afternoon Jeff was at a meeting and BOTH boys had a nap, so I decided to make cheese crackers. The picture looked so tasty and the recipe was only six ingredients.

Preheat oven to 350.

Mix together the following (I used my kitchenaid mixer but the recipe used a food processor)

1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar
3/4 cup flour
4 tbsp butter, softened
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp dried red pepper flakes

Once mixed together and crumbly add 1-2 tbsp milk. Just until it turns into a ball of dough.

Roll out to 1/8" thick and cut into 1" squares (I used a ruler and a pizza cutter). Poke to centre of each square with a chopstick.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, until just starting to brown. Mine took 13 minutes.

I had fun making these. I even put them out in a nice bowl so we could all have a snack together when everyone got home/woke up. Jeff didn't like them. Jacob didn't like them. And Daniel didn't like them. And when I left the room the boys put half the crackers into a wet winter boot, so I had to throw them out.

I thought they were pretty tasty, but I really should have had a nap instead.

My Oven Broke Part 3

Ok. Apparently I forgot to conclude my oven story. The repair guy asked me if I bake alot, and I think for you all the answer is obvious. It turns out I use my oven way more than they are designed to be used, so I wore out the electric control panel. It can be replaced and it is cheaper than a new oven, so life is good. Except the part didn't come in by Friday like he had hoped, so I have no oven over the weekend... Good thing I planned for that when I did groceries! Rice krispie cake here we come!
