Mom: The origami was a Christmas gift for the boys that he sent to you to give me... I was just scared it would be as hard as the last thing and avoided it for awhile. So maybe that makes me a bad sister/mom. Anyways, turns out I am fairly decent at origami with mediocre instructions, so it was fun. I have a package of origami bugs somewhere to do next.
My Auntie and Uncle were Missionaries in Japan for 30+ years, She always brought me back authentic paper and taught me how to fold cranes and other things. It is consequently dear to me. I have some books on it, one is a very simple one if you would like to borrow some time. Having the right paper is very key.
I wondered if the paper was special somehow... I made a simple butterfly yesterday, out of scrapbook paper, but when I had to refold it a couple times the folds tore. The dinosaurs never did that and I made a lot of mistakes because sometimes I couldn't make sense of the instructions!
